9th February 2012

Booked our first test session of the year for 26th Feb at Mallory Park with Thundersport.  Can't wait to get back on track on the bike, it's been a very long winter break.

Just waiting for my new kit to arrive so I can get it worn in a bit before I'm out on track.

22nd January 2012

2012 is going to be a fantastic year, competing in the Aprilia RRV450 Challenge. This 4 stroke is a fabulous machine and the grid will be full of very competitive riders all looking for the front row, several of which will be my old rivals from Superteens!
I’m starting the season with a Trackday
at Mallory Park on Sunday 29th Jan to get some feedback on the bike,  hopefully the weather won’t be too bad.
We visited the Excel Show at the NEC at the week-end and confirmed two sponsors backing me for 2012. For a third year Fuchs Lubricants will again give me their support and also TranAm, this year with Clover leathers and gloves, W2 boots and Schuberth helmets. This is a great package once again from both of these backers so I’m very happy to have them with me.
I have a few more sponsors coming on board this year so will confirm them shortly.

Brands Hatch 2 weeks ago was an exciting and eventful weekend with mixed weather once again dictating tyre choices.

Unfortunately we didn't take the wet weather wheels & tyres for the RRV450 so as qualifying was in the wet all I could do was wobble round to complete a lap in order to race from the back of the grid.  I picked up some points in the championship which I was not expecting, 3 on Saturday morning and 9 in the afternoon race with a fantastic 7t place finish.  As Sunday was to be wet we packed up the bike at the end of Satuday as there was no chance of riding on the intermediate tyres.

The 125 races were as eventful as ever.  Just prior to qualifying the heavens opened and it slowed the pace right down from the test sessions on Friday.  I had a few solid finishes in the 2 days races and have held down my 10th place in the Championship. I was involved in a start-line incident when one of the races was red flagged; we had slowed down to a stop as instructed by the marshalls around the track but a newcomer to the series was not fully focused and he ran his bike right into the back of mine, breaking my exhaust pipe in two.  My dad jumped over the pit-wall for an "on the spot" repair so that I could complete part 2 of the race.  But we couldn't use it for the final race of the day which was a pity.

I'm happy at least that the engine didn't blow and I could retain my position.

This week-end (7/8th October) we head off to Oulton Park in Cheshire for the penultimate race meeting of the season.  Last year I missed out on the Oulton Park round as I had a broken ankle so my dad Tony is riding in the test sessions on a Ducati 848 in order to show me some lines to take.  The other competitors have all experienced the track over the last couple of years but dad tells me that it's a fabulous circuit and I can't wait to get out there on both the 125 and the 450.
